Pakistan: A Country with a Million Archaeological Sites

Talking about the country of Pakistan or known as the holy land according to Persian and Urdu, a very familiar thing that comes to mind is the country with the largest number of Muslims in the world after Indonesia. But did you know that this country, which is located in Southern Asia, has a lot of uniqueness that becomes an attraction for someone to visit Pakistan at least once in their lifetime. Among the interesting and unique facts, such as their relatively advanced technology and geographical conditions that make this region of Pakistan very beautiful, this country also has many historical buildings which later became the center of archaeologists for research purposes.

If you are someone who likes research and is interested in the history of Pakistan, this is one of the many areas that you must visit. One of the historic buildings here is the Khwra Salt Mine which is no longer in use and is one of the historical tourist attractions in Pakistan. This mine is the oldest and largest salt mine in the world which was first discovered by the troops of Alexander The Great in 320 BC. It is estimated that this mine was even late in operation long before it was discovered by the Greek troops.

We turn from historical sites to the buildings of famous archaeologists in Pakistan, namely Mohenjo Daro, which are the remains of the largest cultural settlement in the Indus River Valley, which is one of the first settlement cities in the world, apart from the ancient Egyptian civilization. The meaning of Mohenjo Duro itself is the hill of the dead which is often referred to as the Ancient Metropolis of the Indus Valley. This building has been recognized by UNESCO as one of the world's heritage that is maintained.

Next are the ruins of the city of Taxila which is located in the District City of Rawalpindi. The initial settlement of Taxilia was estimated to be in 1000 BC and according to some experts it became one of the places of study which was the first university in the world. The Taxilia ruins are very well known because they have historical links with several other ancient sites such as the Mesolithic and were inaugurated as a heritage site by UNESCO in 1980.

From the ruined buildings which are the center of archeological studies, many historical caves have been found, one of which is Juniper Cave, Murghagull Gharra Cave and Mughal Saa Cave which are the main archaeological sites in Pakistan. The many historical buildings and sites in this country are inseparable from the long history of civilization that existed in the past. It has also become clear evidence that Pakistan itself has undergone many changes and developments so that it becomes one of the countries with advanced technology and produces the most scientists. 7th in the world.
